| What does it mean to be healthy and well? Most of us are familiar with a definition of wellness being the absence of disease or illness, but it is much more than that. We're healthy and well when we're in balance, in harmony, and well-nourished, not just by the food we take into the body, but by the relationships and daily practices we engage in. Being in harmony allows the body, the mind, and the spirit to all function optimally, creating a better life from the inside out. When we're truly well, our brilliance shines through all we do and to everyone we relate with. |

The entire vast array of information available to us points to one conclusion that the source of all that we seek is within us already. What is needed is a method to put this simple understanding into practice.” -Rolf Gates

Enso Class Descriptions and Schedule
Summer 2010 (June - September 4th)
|
Enso's classes are taught in the Hatha yoga tradition with a strong emphasis on proper alignment. Hatha yoga refers tophysical practice of yoga, meaning the practice of poses and observance of breath as a means to healthy balance, contentment and well-being.
Each of our teachers bring their own unique blend of training, style, experience, focus, and personality to class. Hatha Yoga involves the flow of synchronized breath to match the flowing movement between poses (vinyasa) as well as the longer holding of poses in conjunction with breath to build stamina, strength and balance. Our Ashtanga Yoga is deeply seated in the Iyengar tradition of form, alignment and balance.
What to expect During Enso's Studio Classes
Movement and contemplation united for a dancing meditation of spirit. Drink plenty of water before and after class as it is advised not to drink during practice... it dowses the energy you worked hard to create. Do not eat 2 hours prior to practice or enjoy something light like a piece of fruit. Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely, yet not too baggy that it falls over your head in a standing forward bend. Also, be advised that zippers and buttons may get in the way.

Special Classes
Prenatal Yoga
Yoga is an excellent way to prepare your body and mind for labor and delivery. Practicing yoga during pregnancy helps to strengthen the body while keeping it flexible. Yoga eases the mind, releases tension and helps maintain good posture, while giving you tools on how to keep an upbeat attitude especially when dealing with stresses associated with pregnancy and motherhood. The class will focus on yoga postures that help prepare you for labor, delivery and motherhood as well as breathing techniques you can use during labor. At the end of each class, restorative yoga poses will be integrated to support you and baby allowing you to deepen your connection to baby, breath and self.
Previous yoga experience is not necessary to fully benefit from the classes, and women who have practiced yoga before will find these classes are a great way to transition back to their pre-pregnancy practice.
Mom & Baby Yoga (not currently scheduled as a class; class will be offered as soon as we have moms and babies to form a class)
Congratulations! You have nurtured your baby through pregnancy and given birth to a beautiful child. Mom & baby yoga classes provide an opportunity for you to regain strength and flexibility, to bond with your baby in an enjoyable activity and to make friends with other moms.
Each mom and baby yoga class includes both flowing yoga movements, slow methodical exercises for strength and awareness and breathing specifically geared for new moms. Special attention will be given to reconnecting with and developing core strength and stability that emphasizes strengthening the back, abdomen and pelvic floor and so much more. The classes are designed specifically to accommodate the effects of your recent pregnancy, and take into account reduced joint stability and core strength. You are encouraged to move at your own pace, either more gently or more intensively.
Previous yoga experience is not necessary to fully benefit from the classes, and women who have practiced yoga before will find these classes are a great way to transition back to their pre-pregnancy practice.

Learn how to be in present time, so that you can better control your space and your life.
Studio Enso Yoga Classes

Gentle & Restorative Yoga
Relax and unwind in this gently-paced class. Deep, conscious breathing and attention to the present moment are encouraged as students move gently while breathing and holding asanas (poses) as well as restorative postures. Poses are held longer to allow the body to relax into them. Soothing music, aromatherapy, gentle massage, and use of props encourage total relaxation. A guided meditation period of 10-15 minutes ends the class. Suitable for all levels.
Hatha Slow Yoga
Each session is customized and tailored to the need of the students in the class. This freedom provides for an organic development and exploration through several possible approaches and combinations to address the students' needs. Moving at the guidance of their own breath with a directed mind and generated self kindness, you will enter into a space of greater awareness and compassion.
Each class is as a slow dance metered by the coordination of the student's breath with movement. Concentrating awareness on the flow and rhythm of the breath not only stills the chatter of thoughts, but frees the mind from the limiting patterns of desire and fear. Through effort and patience comes a familiarization and control of these subtle vayus (energies) aiding in a fluid, more efficient and effective ease of movement between transitions of postures.
Accessible to all levels of practitioners, the class may include a variety of core work, hip openers, inversions and backbends. Leave feeling cleansed, energized and inner connected. Modifications are given.
Hatha Flow Yoga
Hatha yoga takes traditional restorative Hatha Yoga one step further, incorporating the benefits of creating dynamic tension and physical resistance training into yoga poses and the movement supporting the transition from pose to pose.
Hatha Prana Flow Yoga
Combine power, fun, dynamic and restorative. Practicing together, while experiencing the fun and delight of yoga and the fulfillment of giving and receiving. This class is a chance for you to create some heat, connect to your spirit and flow to your own rhythm while creating a community of synchronized movement and breath. This is a more Vigorous and challenging class consisting of revolved twisted poses, balancing transitional asanas, and flowing transitions between gentler and more intense yoga postures. Breathe is emphasized. Explore in-depth sun salutations, backbends, inversions and arm balances.
Sunrise Yoga
Set the pace for your day with this early morning vinyasa flow class. This moderately paced class is suitable for all levels and will allow you to wake up your body and your mind. Move into your day in a grounded and spacious frame of mind, and a strong, balanced body.
Sunset to Candlelight Hatha Flow & Restore Yoga
Indulge in the ultimate yoga experience. Begin your yoga practice breathing into your body and observing the changing ambiance of daylight to moonlight. Soft music & candlelight soothe and relax your mind, body and the soul as you flow through various yoga moves. Enso's serene setting allows you to slip into a deep state of peace and relaxation. You will slowly flow through poses, allowing your body to relax, yet leave you feeling spacious inside and exhilarated.
"Yoga is not about touching your toes... it's about what you learn on the way down." ~Nina
